caption: CASTELSARACENO (or Albano di Lucania, PZ) a moment of the work of the documentary expedition conducted from 15 May to 4 June 1957 in Lucania by Professor Ernesto De Martino (1908 - 1965) and his team, later described in the book ''Sud e magia''. The maciara tells her experience and Emilio Servadio (1904 - 1995) holds the microphone for her to record, while Dr. Mario Pitzurra (1916 - 1998) operates the recorder that he holds on his knees; the situation is unusual as the recordings were usually followed by Romano Calisi, absent here. Vittoria De Palma (1927 - 2024) acts as a linguistic and emotional intermediary. In the old house, furrowed by a deep crack, the electrical system is not missing.
