caption: Hans Konrad Dieterich EKHOF (1720 - 1778), actor and theater director, called "the father of German theater" for his innovative conception of drama, in which he wanted to replace the declamatory style coming from the French Mannerist theater with a more naturalistic interpretation, entrusting to each actor regardless of the role the task of collaborating in the show as a whole, and not only in the aspects related to their part. Not at all conducive to improvisation, he demanded that the performances of the actors be subjected to tests to be performed until the approval of the stage manager.
