caption: Blessed GUALLA DE RONIIS (1180 - 3 September 1244), ordained by Saint Dominic, who designated him Prior of Brescia, was then an inquisitor of the faith and papal legate, and in this capacity he played a decisive role in the reconciliation of the peoples of northern Italy and Federico II; because of his work Gregory IX appointed him Bishop of the diocese of Brescia. Commemoration on 3 September, the day of death (Dies Natalis, birth to heaven), except in the dioceses of Bergamo and Brescia where his memory is celebrated on 4 September.
