Holy virgin ZITA (1218 - 27 April 1278). A devout Christian of humble origins, he went twelve years to serve in the Fatinelli family of Lucca, where he was always esteemed for his kindness and dedication. Generous towards the poor, according to the devotional tradition, a colleague of hers, perhaps jealous of what was popular, insinuated the doubt that he would give away goods stolen from the house to charity. The head of the family surprised her one day on the street with a visibly swollen apron, as she went to a needy family, and asked her what she kept in her apron; although it contained bread, the young woman said "flowers and fronds", and when she dissolved the apron, flowers and leaves actually fell. Patron of Lucca, flowers, maids, housekeepers, housewives, wardrobe makers, bakers, is commemorated on April 27th, the day of death (Dies Natalis, birth to heaven). Colored engraving, Italy 1886
