caption: Sant'Abramo KIDUNAIA (? - 366), hermit Syriac. Born in Edessa from a wealthy family, still very young he fled from the festivities for the wedding that had been imposed and self-walled up inside a small room, leaving only an opening for the passage of food and water, and to be able to communicate his loved ones the reasons for his extreme touch that comes from a deep faith and determination to lead a religious life. Finally backed by the family, after ten years of seclusion, the bishop of Edessa, ordained him a priest, against his own will, and sent him to evangelize the village irreducibly pay Beth-Kiduna. With his faith and perseverance succeeded, surpassing all violence and retaliation, to convert the entire population to Christianity, and he could then return to the family tranquility of his cell. From here he came only once in life, called by the family to bring to reason a niece who led a dissolute life, that he would soon reach the ruin of body and soul; in an evening of quiet conversation, under the guise of a soldier, the saint was able to convince of his mistakes the young man, who from that day changed his life dramatically and remained in the historical memory as Santa Maria of Edessa.
