caption: Jean EUDES (November 14, 1601 - August 19, 1680) was a French religious leader who promoted devotion to the Sacred Hearts and founded the Congregation of Jesus and Mary (Eudists), the Order of Our Lady of Charity of Refuge, and the Society of the Heart of the Admirable Mother. Beatified on April 25, 1909, he was canonized by Pope Pius XI on May 31, 1925. His commemoration is on August 19, the day of his death (Dies Natalis, birth into heaven).
