caption: KNIGHTS Insignia of the Order of the Golden Fleece, established on 10 January 1430 by Philip III of Burgundy in Bruges to celebrate his marriage to the Portuguese princess Isabella of Aviz. Pendant with the Golden Fleece under the sparks of the flint, all surmounted by the motto ''Pretium Non Vile Laborum''; this simplified version, starting from the 16th century, was worn around the neck hanging from a red ribbon in everyday life, replacing the more demanding ceremonial collar. From ''Teatro Araldico, or General Collection of Arms and Insignia Gentilizia of the most illustrious and Noble Houses that once existed and that still flourish throughout Italy, illustrated with relative genealogical-historical notions by Leone Tettoni (1816 - 1877) and Francesco Saladini (1808 - 1840)''.
