caption: PCI The first official membership card of the Italian Communist Party, issued in 1945, designed by Renato Guttuso (26 December 1911 – 18 January 1987): under the words "proletarians of the world unite" the hands of two workers firmly hold the hammer and sickle, draped with the red flag; in the background active chimneys, the name of the party written on a tricolour band. Inside the personal data of the member, with a stamp signed by Palmiro Togliatti, and the box for applying the stamps corresponding to the monthly dues of L. 10 each. At the bottom the warning: "The comrade who does not pay the dues does not fulfill his obligations towards the party and after three months of default may be hit by disciplinary sanctions".
