He disputed the crown of Germany to Charles V, and became estranged Henry VIII King of England at the Field of the Cloth of Gold in 1520. Won in Pavia and taken prisoner in Spain, in 1525 finally lost the Milanese. However later triumphed in Provence and Picardy, he occupied Piedmont and signed the treaty of Crépy in 1544. It's the order that marked the language of oil as the new French official language, instead of Latin. Representation inspired by the portrait painted by Titian in 1539.
