caption: PHILIP OF FRANCE (1640-1701), Duke of Orleans, the tenth son of Louis XIII, brother of Louis XIV. Despite the manifest homosexual preferences, for descendants having married in 1661 Henrietta of England, who died after giving him the fourth daughter. In 1671 he married Charlotte-Elizabeth of Bavaria, Princess Palatine, from which he finally had the male heir. Having successfully completed the campaign of Holland and the Netherlands, in fear that it might be aware of their strengths and nullify the education of all life, a time to dampen any competition with his brother heir to the throne, Louis XIV exonerated him from all control tasks.
