caption: Giordano Bruno (1548-1600) at the stake, a bronze sculpture of Salvatore Buemi (1860-1916). Commissioned in 1910 by the citizens of Narni to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of the liberation of the city by the Papal States, the statue was removed by the fascist regime on the occasion of the Concordat in 1929. He was over eighty years hidden from public view, to finally be repositioned in the placement today thanks to the initiative of those who wanted to re-evaluate the figure of the Renaissance philosopher destroyed twice: the first with the fire, the second with the denial of his memory.
