Collaborator of Martin Luther, was with him at the Diet of Worms in 1521, where he received the Elector of Saxony Frederick III the appointment as professor of canon law at Wittenberg. Also attended the Diet of Augsburg, and was a fervent preacher and organizer of the Protestant Church in the Duchy of Saxony.
