Founder of the satirical newspaper 'La lanterna' and heated opponent of the Second Empire through the newspaper 'La Marseillaise'. He fled from Paris besieged in May 1871 and was then arrested, sentenced to life imprisonment by the Versailles government and deported to New Caledonia.
