Hippodamus of Miletus (about 498 BC - about 408 BC) ancient Greek architect and urban planner. It was the first architect to use and theorize schemes planimetric regular planning of cities. To him it is attributed the orthogonal scheme, called Hippodamian scheme. In the illustration we see this pattern in the map of Miletus, which was complemented by an alleged depiction of Hippodamus in statue.
