caption: GESTURES Vittorio Gassman (1 September 1922 – 29 June 2000) performs the interpretation of theatrical gestures or ''tragic attitudes'' (Morrocchesi): sitting upside down on a chair, hands and arms raised in the act of throwing something ( or send it to hell), grim look from bottom to top, asymmetrical feet, one forward and the other backwards. Possible meaning: hurling an insult; disappointment; disapproval; anger. The actor participated with other colleagues in the world survey on the value of the gesture in human culture promoted by UNESCO at the V International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences held in Philadelphia in 1956, and which for Italy was conducted by the anthropologist Romano Calisi (1931 - 1975) and the photographer Ando Gilardi. Subsequently, the director of the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions of Rome prof. Tullio Tentori (1920 - 2003), also an anthropologist, understanding the value of research, joined the group as conservator and archivist.
