caption: GESTURES Vittorio Gassman (1 September 1922 – 29 June 2000) performs the interpretation of theatrical gestures or ''tragic attitudes'' (Morrocchesi), and some terms in the language of popular dialect gestures: bent knees and torso, extended right and left arm bent over, resting on his knee, hands outstretched protectively, face averted, laughing, turned downwards. Possible meaning: stop it! compassion! I can't stand up, I'm doubled over laughing!; great fun, genuine or mocking. Sequence: 35715, 35714, 35683, 35682, 35681, 35670, 36332, 35680. The actor participated with other colleagues in the global survey on the value of gesture in human culture promoted by UNESCO at the V International Congress of Anthropological and Ethnological Sciences held in Philadelphia in 1956, and which for Italy was conducted by the anthropologist Romano Calisi (1931 - 1975) and the photographer Ando Gilardi. Subsequently, the director of the Museum of Popular Arts and Traditions of Rome prof. Tullio Tentori (1920 - 2003), also an anthropologist, understanding the value of research, joined the group as conservator and archivist.
