title: COLOR G - THE MONA LISA

subject date: 2014-01-24

caption: ARBITRARY COLORS: A chromatic and anamorphic elaboration of Leonardo's Mona Lisa. The celebrated portrait appears to be trapped in a soap bubble in the cosmos. Shades of green, blue, yellow, and orange on a black background with white and orange highlights. This sophisticated process of arbitrary creative coloring was developed by Ando Gilardi (1921 - 2012) #andogilardi in the 1970s. It is a photographic technique of great expressive power and versatility, with results that can be considered a precursor to subsequent digital elaborations. Color G, Milan, 1972.
