caption: LUCANIA Direct pilgrimage to the Sanctuary of Santa Maria di Fonti, Tricarico (MT). The pilgrimage lasted day and night, during which the women who intended to publicly demonstrate gratitude for a grace received opened the procession carrying the traditional Cénte on their heads. The votive artefacts composed of countless candles, very elaborate and heavy, were entrusted to the strongest women accompanied by others who helped them maintain balance using decorative ribbons.
