caption: Holy Forty Martyrs of Sebaste (IV century) according to the hagiographic tradition, a group of Roman soldiers belonging to the Legio XII Fulminata, martyred for their Christian faith in 320. The Forty suffered martyrdom at Sebaste, in Armenia Minor, victims of the persecution of Licinius, unleashed from the year 316. 'Incamminavansi wagons which rested over the Forty Martyrs of Sebaste. One was even half-dead. Foolishly pious volean save the Gentiles: but see how the mother accorra to comfort his son, the brave inflame the heavenly palm, and it arms itself discloses that the chariot, in which lie the remains of the champions of Christ.
