caption: SAN DONACI The coffins of the victims of the massacre perpetrated on 9 September 1957 are not transported on a funeral wagon, but on an agricultural lorry, as a symbolic homage and recognition of belonging to the class for which they were fighting, which accompanies them in their last voyage; the women in black thus seem even closer to their missing loved ones. Three young agricultural workers, Antonia Calignano, Mario Calò and Luciano Valentini, were killed by the police during protests against the drop in the price of grapes.
