The neighborhood was designed during the postwar reconstruction years; it was Piero Bottoni, special commissioner of the Milan Triennale, who in 1945 promoted the creation of this "Experimental Neighborhood" and, within it, Monte Stella, an artificial hill constructed with the debris of buildings that collapsed during the war.
