caption: Virginia CENTURIONE BRACELLI (April 2, 1587 – December 15, 1651), founder of the religious congregations of the Sisters of Our Lady of Refuge on Mount Calvary (known as the Brignoline) of Genoa, and of the Daughters of Our Lady on Mount Calvary of Rome. In the painting by Corrado Mazzari (January 20, 1922 – September 8, 2006), created for her beatification in 1985, the nun appears blessing in the sea of Genoa, as if protecting the port, in which the Lanterna is clearly visible. In 2003, she was canonized a saint by Pope John Paul II. Devotional image, Italy, 1985.
