caption: Sandro CASSONE (1890-1984) here signed with the name Omar Salgari: cover of the novel 'Il Corsaro Verde' (1941). Cassone was one of the ghost-writers used to develop the plots and titles left unfinished by Emilio Salgari, which were published for years by various publishers after the writer's death, under his name or that of one of his sons. The Green Corsair was published under the name of Omar Salgari. There is a literary production that has contributed not a little to confusing ideas about the number of Emilio Salgari's novels. To take advantage of the writer's popularity (his name was synonymous with excellent sales), the apocryphal novels bore the surname Salgari on the cover, which was completed on the title page by the name of one of the two sons: Omar or Nadir. Cassette production began around 1915, the year in which the novel 'Extraordinary adventures of Testa di Pietra' was published, posthumous but based on a real Salgarian text.
