caption: PAPA STEFANO X (1020 - 1058), born Frederick of the dukes of Lorraine, born in Germany, was elected in 1057. He created Cardinal St. Peter Damian (1007 - February 21, 1072). Because of the death of the second Pope Stephen occurred in 752, before the consecration, not all sources take account of the latter in the numbering of the subsequent homonyms; for this reason the Pope elected in 157 is sometimes considered Pope Stephen IX. Postcard chromolithographic n. 106 from the 'Collection of the Popes Romans' dedicated to Pope Pius X and blessed by Him. Rome, October 1903.
