The competition was launched in 1946 by the company SISAL, founded by journalists Massimo della Pergola, Fabio Jegher and Geo Molo to finance the reconstruction of the stadiums damaged by the conflict; since 1948 it has taken the definitive name of Totocalcio and is managed directly by CONI. On the occasion of the Christmas competition, in addition to the usual prize money, hundreds of prismatic binoculars are up for grabs. Press release of 1955
