caption: SAN DONACI The head of the funeral procession of the victims of the San Donaci massacre which occurred on 9 September 1957. The coffins are not transported on a funeral wagon, but on an agricultural truck, as a symbolic homage and recognition of belonging to the class for which they were struggling, which accompanies them on the last journey. Three young agricultural workers, Antonia Calignano, Mario Calò and Luciano Valentini, were killed by the police during protests against the drop in the price of grapes.
