caption: Impressive FUNERALS in Barletta for Giuseppe Di Corato, Giuseppe Spadaro and Giuseppe Lojodice who were killed on 14 March 1956 when the police forces opened fire on around 4,000 people exasperated by hunger who were demonstrating against the discrimination of the Pontifical Assistance Society, commissioned by the administration municipal authority to distribute parcels of food and clothing arrived from abroad to alleviate the dramatic famine caused by the extreme and prolonged bad weather.
