caption: ARCHAEOLOGY view of the archaeological excavations of Libarna Romana which constitute one of the most interesting and historically rich places in lower Piedmont. The excavations have revealed paved streets and blocks divided into several residential nuclei with courtyards, vestibules, shops, wells and a network of waste pipes. Libarna is mentioned by Pliny, Ptolemy, and several times in Trajan's Tabula Alimentaria; its importance grew together with its size starting from the opening in 148 BC of the Via Postumia which linked Genoa to Aquileia.
