caption: Georg Philipp TELEMANN (14 March 1681 – 25 June 1767) German composer and organiser. He was Kapellmeister in Leipzig, lived in Poland before settling in Eisenach in 1708 as Court Kapellmeister. From 1712 he was in Frankfurt and in 1721 he settled in Hamburg, where he worked as Kapellmeister and organised the city's musical life. In 1728 he founded the first German music journal, the ''Getreuer Musik-Meister''. Portrait in engraving from a painting of 1750.
