Cardinal Giuseppe SARTO (1835-1914) chaplain of Tombolo (Pope Pius X in 1903). Giuseppe Melchiorre Sarto was born in Riese (Treviso) and on 18 September 1858 he was ordained a priest in Castelfranco and was chaplain of Tombolo. In 1867 he was parish priest in Salzano. In 1875 he was appointed canon of the Treviso chapter. In 1884 he was bishop of Mantua. In 1893 he was appointed cardinal to the patriarch of Venice. On 4 August 1903 he was elected Pope.
