San MALACHIA (1095 - November 2, 1148) reformed and reorganized the Irish Church and brought it to Rome. Canonized in 1190 by Pope Clement III, his was the first Canonization of a Holy Irish. It is indicated as the author of the Prophetia de summis pontificibus, a prophecy on the succession of the Popes, which he wrote in 1138, in the Abbey of Clairvaux, under the inspiration of St. Bernard (then Malachi was Bishop of Connor and archbishop of Armagh in Ireland ). The Prophecy indicates in detail the 111 Papes who would reign in the Roman Church from 1143 until the last Pope, marking the end of the Church of Rome and announcing the Day of Judgment, and following the associative chronicle published in 1595 by Arnold Wion (attributed to him by the Dominican historian Alfonso Chacon) would correspond to the figure of Pope Francis. The authenticity of the document, which would never be found in the original, has been seriously questioned since its appearance within the "Lignum Vitae" printed by Wion in Venice at the end of the sixteenth century.
