Photograph by Ando Gilardi (1921 - 2012) #andogilardi, part of the photo feature "Inchiesta tra gli ulivi" (Investigation among the Olive Trees), published in installments as a summary of the study on the working conditions of olive pickers in Calabria, conducted in November 1957 by a commission of inquiry composed of CGIL trade unionists and association and parliamentary figures of various backgrounds. The study was accompanied by a large series of images taken by the photographer. Published in "Lavoro," the trade union's weekly magazine, Italy, no. 48 of December 1, 1957.
