As far as the eye can see, olive trees and women bent over in the same grueling position for ten hours a day for intolerably inadequate pay. Photograph by Ando Gilardi (1921 - 2012) #andogilardi, from a series taken in support of the Commission of Inquiry into the Working Conditions of Olive Pickers in Calabria, established in November 1957 by CGIL unionists and various association and parliamentary figures.
