PETER I of Russia (9 June 1672 – 8 February 1725) called the Great, tsar from 1682 and first emperor of Russia from 1721 until his death. Fourth son of Tsar Alexis Mikhailovich and his second wife Natalia Kirillovna Naryskina. Fyodor III, son of his first wife, was the successor to the throne.
