title: COAT OF ARMS OF TRAPANI

subject date: 2002-11-12

caption: TRAPANI, the provincial capital, corresponds to the Latin ''Drepanum'', and owes its name to the place where it is located: on a narrow, flat, crescent-shaped promontory, between the sea to the north and the natural inlet that forms the port to the south. Red shield, with a bridge of three arches, the last one incomplete, supporting five towers, the second of which is the highest, all of gold, walled in black, placed above a billowing sea of blue and silver, and surmounted by a sickle, placed in a band, with the handle on the right and the tip facing the tip of the shield. City Crown. Chromolithograph, Edition A. Brioschi & C., Milan circa 1935.
