caption: ORTONOVO (La Spezia, renamed Luni since 2017) It seems that the settlement developed from and next to an older one for which a Byzantine origin has been proposed: Mikauria. Already a fortified village by the bishops of Luni, Ortonovo in the 15th century passed to Florence, then to Genoa. Azure shield, with a red foreshortened cross, at the height of the point of honour, accompanied by two ears of wheat, gilded and placed in a St. Andrew's cross.
