caption: CANTÙ (Como) located in a place already inhabited in Roman times, became of a certain importance in the early Middle Ages; the village took part in the disputes between Como and Milan and between the Visconti and the Torriani, later becoming a fief of the Grassi and Pietrasanta families. Silver shield, with a square tower, natural, crenellated with two Ghibelline battlements, open in the field, walled in sable, placed to the right of the shield, above a plain of green and sinister by a rampant mastiff natural, collared in argent.
