Jean-Baptiste DELAMBRE (19 September 1749 – 19 August 1822) French mathematician and astronomer, calculated solar tables in 1806 and measured the meridian arc between Dunkirk and Barcelona between 1792 and 1799 to establish the basis of the new metric system. From 1792 he took care of the measurements of longitudes and prepared accurate tables on the motion of Uranus.
