AESCHYLUS (525 ca. - 456 a.C.) scene from “the Eumenidi”. It is the final part of the tragedy: Oreste, to the knelt down center, attends the sentence on its crime. To Apollo right it exhorts it, on the left Athena is prepared for the judgment. The goddess Athena protect it from the Furies (or Erinni) that they chase it with the rimorso for its matricidio. Listened to the accusations and discolpe of both the parts, the goddess decides to put again the judgment to a court from constituted same she: the court dell ’ Aeropago (in order to judge the crimes of blood) that it will remain eternal protection of the justice. The process takes place: the matricida it is acquitted thanks to the parity of the ballots reached with that favorable one of Athena. The Erinni are aggravated by the verdict, but they come quickly appeased from the goddess, which assures they a cult and honors in the city of Athens. The tremendous goddesses, become benevolent transform themselves in Eumenidi and are accompanied by the festante people towards the new dwelling destined basement to their cult.
