caption: ALASKA Prudhoe Bay: oil fields and a polar bear, which arrived here in search of food due to the melting of the pack, its natural habitat. From here the Transalaska Pipeline starts, one of the longest oil pipelines in the world (800 miles) and ends in the port of Valdez. Oil was discovered in Prudhoe Bay in 1968, the Transalaska Pipeline was built between 1975 and 1977 and currently transports 1 million barrels of oil per day.
