Younger brother of the Infante Charles Maria pretender as Carlos VII and himself a Carlist pretender to the throne of Spain with the name of Alfonso Carlos I, but also legitimistic pretender to the French throne with the name of Charles XII. Portrait of a young man in Zuavo uniform of the papal army, in studio with backdrop depicting St. Peter's square. The prince is seated with his arms folded, proud gaze and sword at his side. The complicated uniform is made up of an embroidered headdress (called bonetto), large puffy trousers, short jacket with embroidery and band wrapped around the waist. The creation of the papal zouaves took place in 1860 at the request of Pope Pius IX; their organization was entrusted to the general of La Moricière. Rome, 1868
