caption: Galilean THERMOMETER, a welded glass tube filled with water in which some glass ampoules filled with a colored liquid mixture (alcohol or water with dye) are immersed. Each vial has a light metal plate attached which numerically indicates a temperature. The weight of each tag is carefully calibrated and different from each other. The operating principle of this thermometer is based on the idea that when the temperature of the environment outside the thermometer changes, the temperature and density of the water in which the ampoules are immersed also changes. Thus, at a given temperature, some beads will float and others (with the heaviest tag) will sink. The top of the sinking ampoules indicates approximately the outside temperature.
