caption: GOFFREDO DI BUGLIONE (1061-1100) Duke of Lower Lorraine, as Goffredo III (1089-1100). I participated in the Crusade (1096-1099); after the conquest of Jerusalem June 15, 1099 refused the title of king to that of the Holy Sepulcher defender. He became the hero of legends and literary works including French medieval epics known as 'Chansons de geste'; and Torquato Tasso celebrated him in his 'Jerusalem Delivered' (1575) and 'conquered Jerusalem' (1593).
