caption: TOTOCALCIO (Football Tally) - filled and played betting slips for Totocalcio, a public prize competition based on predictions for major football matches. Created by journalist Massimo Della Pergola (1912–2006) and launched in 1946 by SISAL, it has been managed directly by CONI since 1948. Weekly revenue, after deducting a fixed fee for betting operators, is divided as follows: 38% to the prize pool (half to winners with 13 points and half to those with 12 points), 24% to the state, 25% to CONI, 4% to sports credit, and 8% to management fees. Since 1994, Totocalcio has been joined by Totogol, in which players must predict the Italian football league matches in which the most goals are scored.
