A figure of great influence and ambition, a protagonist of the so-called Roman pornocracy period, after having been the concubine of Pope Sergius III as a young woman, she first married Alberic I (with whom she bore the son she succeeded in installing as Pope John XI), then Guy of Tuscany (in 925), Hugh's half-brother.
