caption: Peaceful bicycle demonstration. The motorized relay, an elderly dock worker, dispatches the arrival of the demonstrators acclaimed by the population. ''Genoese dockworkers fight for democratic freedoms'' read the signs carried on their backs; the demonstration, also provocatively called ''the march on Rome'' because it started by bicycle from Genoa to get to the capital, was organized for the defense of the ''companies'', a sort of union with sickness and pension insurance apart from the national service: the Tambroni government was about to outlaw them.
