''Genoese dockworkers fight for democratic freedoms'' read the signs carried on their backs; the demonstration, also provocatively called ''the march on Rome'' because it started by bicycle from Genoa to get to the capital, was organized for the defense of the ''companies'', a sort of union with sickness and pension insurance apart from the national service: the Tambroni government was about to outlaw them.
