caption: ARBITRARY COLORS chromatic elaboration from the series "R for Andromeda," in which a female nude, compressed by perspective, appears suspended in outer space or terrestrial skies: shades of gray against a nebula-like background in a starry sky. A selection of variations of this subject was published in the magazine Photo 13, signed under the pseudonym Shinzo Tamura. For the title, Ando drew inspiration from the science fiction television miniseries "A for Andromeda," but used the letter R in homage to the model's name. The sophisticated process of arbitrary creative coloring was developed by Ando Gilardi (1921 - 2012) #andogilardi in the 1970s, a photographic technique of great expressive power and versatility, with results that can be defined as precursors of subsequent digital elaborations.
