Poster by Adolf Hohenstein (18 March 1854 – 12 April 1928) probably made for one of the first performances of the opera composed on a libretto by Giuseppe Giacosa (21 October 1847 – 1 September 1906) and Luigi Illica (9 May 1857 – 16 December 1919).
