caption: WEAPONS Aries used to break through the protective walls of a fortress during the siege, described by the historian Roberto Valturio (1405-1475) in Book X of his work 'De Re Militari', composed between 1446 and 1455 to celebrate his patron Sigismondo Pandolfo Malatesta. The work in the twelfth volume had already been widely disseminated in manuscript; in 1472 it was produced in Verona the first printed edition, with woodcuts from the source drawings attributed to Matteo de 'Pasti, the first example of a technique illustrated work printed. Fax machine prints a table taken from the 1463 code.
